Fabled cables

Historic lines give three distinct views of the streets of San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO – Some 7.5 million people ride San Francisco's cable cars each year. Many of them board at Powell and Market streets, the famous turnaround site at the end of the line. Here tourists can snap pictures of workers manually swiveling the cars around to begin the route again.

    With hordes of San Diegans in Pittsburgh to see the Chargers face off against the Steelers, the most pressing thing on their minds is: Where can we eat? The best advice is to just follow the crowds to the Strip District, just like Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Barack Obama; Viggo Mortensen, Kevin Smith (“Zack and Miri Make a Porno”) and about every big star who comes to Pittsburgh to make a movie.
