TRUCKEE – One of four hikers rescued in the Sierra over the weekend has died from apparent exposure.

Placer County sheriff's deputies say 62-year-old Phyllis Hall was among the four a a search-and-rescue team found Saturday morning on the Pacific Crest Trail near Tinker's Knob.

Sgt. Robert Dellinger says they called 911 on a cell phone after suffering through a night of cold, rainy weather at an elevation of nearly 9,000 feet. He says they apparently didn't anticipate the mountain conditions.

Although an autopsy has yet to be performed, authorities say it appears Hall died from exposure.

The other three hikers were 65-year-old Harold Herlan of San Diego, 49-year-old Pamela Bryant of El Cajon and 58-year-old Karen Lafferty of Hanford. They were reported to be cold and hungry but otherwise uninjured.
