LAKE ELSINORE – A 74-year-old Lake Elsinore man was killed Thursday in a freeway crash in Lake Elsinore, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Willie McKinley Williams was driving on the Corona (15) Freeway, just south of Railroad Canyon Road, about 10 a.m. when his pickup truck went up an embankment and overturned as it slid back down, according to the CHP and the Riverside County Coroner's office.
Williams was partially ejected and died.
The pickup was traveling in a far right lane and for some reason the driver drifted across the two far left lanes, then swerved to the right and across the lanes again, before the truck went about 50 feet up the embankment, said CHP Officer Ron Thatcher.
